Yesterday, Netflix gave us a first look at The Thursday Murder Club movie, and I couldn’t be more excited! Ever since they announced they were adapting the bestselling book, I’ve been eagerly waiting to hear more. Well, now we finally have four official images and a confirmed release date! Yay!
Set to premiere on August 28, 2025, on Netflix, the highly anticipated adaptation of Richard Osman’s bestselling novel features an incredible cast, including Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie, David Tennant, and many other renowned names in cinema. Directed by Chris Columbus (of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Home Alone), the film promises the perfect blend of wit, charm, and a gripping mystery that only our favourite retirees can deliver.

When a real murder lands on their doorstep, Elizabeth, Ron, Ibrahim, and Joyce dive into a thrilling investigation.

Who Is Directing The Thursday Murder Club on Netflix in 2025?
The film is directed by Chris Columbus, the guy behind some of our favorite classics like Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Home Alone, and Bicentennial Man. His ability to mix humour, heart, and adventure makes him the perfect choice for The Thursday Murder Club.
Netflix Tudum shared that Columbus was drawn to this project because of its “unique mix of mystery and warmth”, and honestly, that has us feeling pretty excited about how true to the book the movie will be.

Netflix UK confirmed that The Thursday Murder Club will premiere on August 28, 2025, available globally with a standard Netflix subscription.
